I never really thought about the impact and responsibility that being a manager represented, thinking that this role predisposed you to act like a steward or leader. Therefore, managing, leading and stewardship were almost indissociably related. I therefore discovered within this subject that these notions, although strongly related, are dissociable and essential qualities of an efficient tools of management.

After reading and watching the imposed pre-orientation and first couple of weeks materials, I was left with a pretty bitter and cynical image of big organizations, and the way our current society is managed. Although I was aware of most of the issues that I read about, it had never really occurred to me that they were all related, or maybe did I simply chose not to think about these issues at all. (quote) The documentary “The Corporation” especially, shocked me and shook me awake, by listing one by one all the current social and economic issues that our society is facing.

What I retain from all I’ve read and seen so far, is that the crisis happened due to a series of bad decisions, corruptions or dishonest deals. It wasn’t just one event which changed it all, it was due to a lot of (smaller) decisions. And that’s where we should learn, and avoid for it to happen again.I truly believe that a fair and equal treatment is possible and should be implemented, and I rely on this subject to help me find ways in implementing and taking actions in that direction. I’m am strongly convinced that a change can be made nowadays by following sustainable and fair-trade rules.

I want this subject to continue to shake things off me, to shock me as it has so far, and give me the tools to know which way to go when I’ll be facing a social and/or ethical issue in my future career. Ethically, socially, economically, I want to gain or to know how to use my values, have the strength to impose my ideas and beliefs. I want to be the one raising questions instead of executing orders, and set clear priorities not always following the general assumptions.
