Read Du Bois’ The Souls of Black Folk and write a book review (1000-words minimum) of this book.

• Your work will be held to the standards discussed in the Assigned Writing Guides. Review
these guides before beginning this assignment. College-level writing is expected of all work.
• Proper citations are required at all times. Using a source without providing a proper citation is
considered plagiarism, and will result in severe penalties. No exceptions!
• Valid sources for this assignment include the book your are reviewing, (The Souls of Black
Folk), the materials provided in this class (lectures, films, readings), and all scholarly sources
obtained via the campus library. Other popular sources, whether in print or online, may not to
be used for this assignment without my express written permission. For assistance with
finding, identifying, and accessing scholarly sources, contact the campus library.
• You must follow MLA-style or Chicago-style for this assignment. Contact the campus library for
information about the current MLA Style Manual & Chicago Manual of Style.
