American Public University COURSE GEOG 101 the winter time here conditions

I don’t know how many people are form Kansas City but in the winter time here conditions get pretty rough so I can imagine driving in conditions like that but also I am not driving a 150 ton truck either. In Missouri I have been seeing trucks similar to Australia’s truck train. Obviously the ones here in the state are not two thirds the size of a football field but there have been some I have been seeing that are close to half the length. I think Australia can benefit from a train system that way they can get rerouted around all the water and mud in some way. If Australia was to build a train system they would be able to build up the land that the track sits on so that way the train wouldn’t be driving through the water also. But then again where would Australia get the money to build a railroad system. So the question I guess I still have is would it be better for the communities to rely on truck transportation like they have been or should they go with train transportation. In my opinion I think it would be better for the communities to have train transportation just because of the fact that the trains would be able to go over the puddles and not be prone to getting stuck or stranded in the middle of nowhere. Even though the truck trains have a 500 gallon fuel tank the trains would be able to go further distances due to the gallon tank they have and they would be able to pull heavier loads do to their massive engines.-col2.Australian truck trains normally carry at least three trailers. In America we typically see a semi towing one trailer possibly two smaller trailers. "A proper "Road Train" has two or three normal trailers, connected by a converter dollies. This combination is between 35.5 and 50 meters long. With a special permit you can also run whats called an A-B quad. That's two normal full length trailers attached to the rear of a B-double, which brings the full length to 53.5 meters. These road trains are restricted to the Australian Outback regions. In America we have so many accidents with normal semis I couldn't imagine what would happen with these road trains. I do see why they are limited to the Outback. There would be a lot more empty roadways with less accidents. I found this forum very interesting this week. I have found myself watching YouTube videos to find more information. I find it very interesting to see how other countries do things such as road trains. I could sit and watch it for hours.-mastEXAMPLE:Good post. These road trains are very interesting. It certainly seems like the outback is a good place for them because of the small amount of vehicles on the roadways. What did you think about trains instead in Australia? Do you think long term putting in permanent train tracks across the country would make more sense?
