In this article, the author argues that it was wrong of two schools’ administration: Minnesota State University Morphed (MOSLEM), and the University of the District of Columbia (DC) to cut from their schools what were considered vital academic departments when other things could have been cut instead.

Also, by cutting the academics, they have made their universities into wastelands which will have a negative influence on other universities facing a animal situation.The author opens by listing some of the departments that had been cut, and goes on to explain why she thinks the universities administration decided to cut valuable academics rather than other disciplines such as sports. Next, Schuman discusses the faculty and how it is easier for the universities to drop entire departments rather than laying-off the highest paid professors.
