\nAcademic integrity and writing are intertwined in the field of academics. Academic integrity involves adherence to specific principles and standards. For instance, academic integrity means students must avoid plagiarism. Professional and academic writing cannot be achieved without integrity (Jamieson & Howard, 2019). Academic integrity is part of the writing process when nurses are collecting data and researching. For instance, it is vital to obtain informed consent from the participants.<\/p>\n
\u2022\tExplanation for the relationship between professional practices and scholarly ethics
\nProfessional practices and scholarly ethics are intertwined since the bottom line is a set of standards that individuals adhere to in their professional work. Professional practices and scholarly ethics build each other (Milton, 2019). A person with strong scholarly ethics has strong skills which are transferred to professional practice. Scholarly ethics is the commitment to integrity and observing honesty, transparency, competence, and accountability (Milton, 2019). For instance, nurses should adhere to professional practices such as integrity, self-respect, and openness. Nurses should use the same standards while developing scholarly materials or research (Milton, 2019). For instance, students should not submit plagiarized work as their original writing since it would amount to loss of integrity. Scholarly ethics attracts trust from the public about professional standards of practice based on reliable evidence.<\/p>\n
PART 2: Strategies for Maintaining Integrity of Work Expand on your thoughts from Part 1 by:
\n\u2022 Identifying and describing strategies you intend to pursue to maintain integrity and ethics of your 1) academic work while a student of the MSN program, and 2) professional work as a nurse throughout your career. Include a review of resources and approaches you propose to use as a student and a professional.
\nThe strategies of maintaining integrity and ethics in academic work as a student of MSN program involves using Grammarly and SafeAssign. The tools are essential in ensuring integrity as a student. Other strategies include consistently and accurately citing from scholarly sources I will maintain ethics by completing my independent work without copying from others or from the internet. Additionally, the strategies of maintaining integrity at as a professional involves upholding the work ethics, adhering to the ethics of nursing practice, and learning new skills to address ethical dilemmas in the work environment. The resources I propose to use include the Writing Center, Academic Services Adviser, and library staff. The approaches including visiting the Writing Center consistently to study the guidelines for completing assignments. The resources I will use as a professional include The Code of Ethics for Nurses with Interpretive Statements by American Nurses Association and journals such as American Journal of Nursing.

The approach of identifying and analyzing peer-reviewed research is finding articles that have been published in recognized journals. Some of the recognized journals include American Journal of Nursing (AJN) and the Journal of Professional Nursing (JPN). The article should meet a basic requirement of peer-review. Peer-reviewed research involves research that undergoes the review of peers before it is published. Another requirement is that the studies should be systematic reviews, control trials, and randomized control trials. One of the strategy of identifying peer-reviewed journal is filtering the search tools to get the peer-reviewed scholarly articles.
\nSome of the resources I intend to use to find peer-reviewed research is identifying specific journals for deriving the articles. For instance, Online Journal of Issues in Nursing (OJIN) is a resources for nurses. Psychiatry Journal is for identifying articles, article reviews, and clinical studies on psychiatry research and practice. The articles are scholarly journals which are reliable, accurate, factual, and organized research findings. Another resource is American Psychiatric Association which published evidence-based articles that can be used to enhance nurse practice and provide latest information on different topics.

I have considered various options for my nursing specialty, including a close look at my selected (or currently preferred) specialty and second-preferred specialty. I have also developed a justification of my selected (or preferred) specialty. Lastly, I have examined one professional organization related to my selected or preferred specialty and considered how I can become a member of this organization.<\/p>\n

My first nursing specialty is to become a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner but the second preference is Family Nurse Practitioner. The role of PMHNP is to examine, diagnose, and treat patients with mental illnesses. PMHNP work with diverse patients suffering from mood disorders, anxiety disorders, issues of substance and drug abuse, and mental health issues resulting from advanced age such as dementia. PMHNP work as a team or alone to deliver quality care to patients. Treatment involves individualized plans or group therapy. PMHNP can work in hospitals, home, prisons, psychiatric hospitals, and outpatient mental health centers.
\nThe second preference is the role of a family nurse practitioner which involves working with children and adults to enhance health and wellness. The focus of family nurse practitioner is preventive care. A family nurse practitioner works under supervision of a physician, but some states allow independent practice. FNP works in family clinics and underserved populations.<\/p>\n
