\nNursing is a very highly regulated profession. There are over 100 boards of nursing and national nursing associations throughout the United States and its territories. Their existence helps regulate, inform, and promote the nursing profession. With such numbers, it can be difficult to distinguish between BONs and nursing associations, and overwhelming to consider various benefits and options offered by each. Both boards of nursing and national nursing associations have a big effect on the job and scope of practice of nurse practitioners. By knowing these differences, you can show that you are an expert in your field. In this Assignment, you’ll show how you can use your knowledge by comparing boards of nursing and professional nurse associations. You will also talk about what you think about the nursing board in your state.
\nBoth boards of nursing and national nursing associations have significant impacts on the nurse practitioner profession and scope of practice. Understanding these differences helps lend credence to your expertise as a professional. In this Assignment, you will practice the application of such expertise by communicating a comparison of boards of nursing and professional nurse associations. You will also share an analysis of your state board of nursing.

\nBoards oversee training and licensure, create and enforce the rules, and facilitate accreditation program. Nursing associations specialize in terms of age, specialty in the healthcare field, or ethnicity. The Maryland board of nursing has14 members. The members of the board are appointed by the governor. The objective is to discuss Maryland Children\u2019s Health Program. The focus is Maryland Nursing Practice Act (NPA).
\nNursing boards moderate nursing practice. The purpose of regulation is to enhance public health. Boards oversee training and licensure, create and enforce the rules, and facilitate accreditation program. An example of nursing board is the National Council of State Boards of Nursing (NCSBN) Nursing association are private professional groupings that require members to pay a price to enjoy benefits. Nursing associations such as American Nursing Association (ANA) specialize in terms of age, specialty in the healthcare field, or ethnicity.
\nThe board has a14 members. 9 Registered Nurses (RNs), 2 Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs), 1 Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN), and 2 consumers. The members should be permanent residents of state of Maryland. The members in the board should be 60 years and above.
\nAll the members are given direct appointment by sitting governor. Applicants need to submit a Appointee Exemption Disclosure (AED) form. After the appointment, the State Ethics Commission evaluate the qualifications and submit recommendations. Candidates will apply for the board membership through the website appointment portal.
\nMaryland Children\u2019s Health Program is one of the regulations. The objective of the regulation is to extend health benefits to children below 19 years. It works to improve access to care and availability of medical services to children below 19 years. One of the changes is that a beneficiary must be a resident of Maryland before their 19th birthday. The law widens the scope of practice for nurses. It increases patients\u2019 access to healthcare services and lowers the cost of care.
\nThe focus is to discuss 8Maryland Nursing Practice Act (NPA). The state regulates practice through Health Occupations Article and Code of Maryland Regulations (COMAR). The regulation affects nurses\u2019 role by affecting the licensure requirements to ensure quality and professional care. The regulation ensures that nurses are competent and reduces the chances of harm. There is no change in regulation that has taken place recently.
\nThe regulation reduces cost of care since the nurses understand the emerging health issues. The competency of the nurse improves access and delivery of care to the public. Clinics and surgery centers enhance access to care. Affordable healthcare improves delivery and access to healthcare services. The regulation considers NPs as primary healthcare providers. The regulation allows nurses to prescribe drugs.
