Operating Policies and Procedures
\nTo ensure the smooth operations and continued use of the computer lab, kindly observe the following policies:
\nOnly use the lab within the open hours
\nOpen hours are as follows
\nMonday \u2013 Friday: 8:00 am -8:00 pm
\nSaturday: 9:00 am \u2013 5:00 pm
\nSunday and Public Holidays: Closed
\nAvoid bring food and drink to the lab
\nRemoval of any equipment from the computer is prohibited
\nKindly leave the computer ready for the next user. The screen should be at the login window
\nAnyone found in violation of the above will be penalized
\nAlways ask for assistance from the lab assistants when in need of help<\/p>\n
Instructions On Logging In And Out Of The Network
\nPlease use the following steps to log in and out of the network.
\nLogging in
\nMake sure you are registered for the current semester
\nMake sure the screen displays the login page for the network
\nType your username (firstname_lastname)
\nEnter your password (registration number)
\nClick on the log in button
\nLogin out
\nCheck the top right part of the screen. You will see a profile icon.
\nClick on the icon and select log out. It will be the last option on the drop down list.<\/p>\n
Directions To Access Popular Software Packages
\nPlease note that the common software packages provided by the school are available on all the lab computers. To access the software, head on to Common Core Software Packages. It is also important to note that each Operating System is allocated its own applications and others may vary depending on the version for the OS. Each software is updated to the latest version available for the respective OD. Select the software you are interested in and begin.<\/p>\n
Bringing Your Own Device
\nPlease label your devices before bringing them into into the laboratory
\nAsk for assistance from the lab technician if you need the Common Core Software Packages installed.
\nYou may connect to the WiFi or LAN network for connection to the network<\/p>\n
Information On Proper Printing Procedure
\nPlease note that all printing is paid for before the document is printed out.
\nColor printing costs 50cents
\nBlack and white printing costs 25cents
\nOnce you select the printer and click on print, kindly head to the pay station and pay. Your document will then be handed to you.
\nPlease note that printing jobs are refreshed every hour. If you fail to complete a print within the stated time, you will have to redo the process again.<\/p>\n
Guidelines On The Use Of Resource Material
\nElectronic resources such as websites should be used strictly for the purpose of academics and not entertainment.
\nPlease be responsible over the physical resources such as monitors, keyboards, mouse, routers, etc.
\nAnyone found in violation of the above will be held liable for their actions
\nStudents with their own laptops should sit on the empty desks and avoid occupying the space with desktops.<\/p>\n
Where To Get Help
\nThe lab assistant is always ready to help and available for consultation within the open hours expect during lunch break.
\nNew students are expected to report to the lab assistants office for brief training before they start using the computer lab. The training session is every weekday from 4:00 pm -5:00 pm
\nNB: special requests by specific courses to use the computer lab are acceptable upon booking through the lab assistant.<\/p>\n
