Problems and incidents response
Security incidents are one of the significant problems facing organizations today. To manage the incidents and problems, an organization should have a system and mechanisms in place that can detect, analyze, prevent, report, and solve them in a timely manner. However, an organization should ensure that it has techniques of determining whether the systems in place are supporting the organization’s objective. To evaluate the performance of the tasks, the organization can use the enterprise-based perspective that has the ability to identify the communication and interactions that need to occur within the incident management system (Killcrece, 2013). the enterprise-based perspective also monitors the performance of tasks, the information exchange between the detecting, preventing, reporting, analyzing, and solving of incidents aspects, and how actions are coordinated within the significant incident management system. Another way of determining if the incident management activities are occurring in a timely, effective, and coordinated manner is through a prepare and protect the process. The processes involve creating necessary staff, infrastructure, technology, policies to observe the activities of incident management. The organization should always remain keen to identify if the incident management activities are having an impact on the organization’s objectives.
A poorly managed problem and incident response could result in different consequences for the organization. Some of the effects include high risks of cyberattacks, which impacts the ability of the organization to offer a continuous business and might alienate their customers (Biz Community, 2019). another consequence of a poorly managed problem and incident response is the high possibility of the organization face damages not limited to network, database assets, and the business reputation of the organization (Zeidler, 2019). Damages can also extend to include credit ratings and legal ramifications.
