Management of resources in Cloud Computing
Any cloud computing system requires proper resource management. The four approaches to the implementation of management of policies are control theory, machine learning, utility-based and market-oriented.
Control Theory
Control theory is a mechanism that employs the use of feedback. The mechanism ensures that the system is stable. It is also important in predicting the transient behaviour in the system. The problem of the control theory is that it can only predict the local behaviour but not from other platforms.
Machine learning
Machine learning does not require the performance model from the system. The benefits of the mechanism are it helps to experiment the capabilities of the machine learning and hence make adjustments depending on demand. The intelligent services are accessed with no advanced skills. The problems facing the machine learning are, it requires specialised skills to operate which might be expensive to train or hire resulting in a high cost of labour (Parikh et al, 2017).
Utility-based
Utility-based needs a performance model and a mechanism to check performance with the corresponding cost. The policy is more convenient because the client does not need to incur the costs of hardware and licencing. It is more compatible, it is compatible with the different software. However, the policy is expensive because of its requirement and it is unreliable because it can attract hackers who might interfere with the system.

Market-Oriented
The main benefit of the market-oriented is that it does not require a model of the system as compared to the utility-based. It is more elastic and used to scale out based on demand and user service. It is also important in managing traffic in cloud computing. The problems are it is dependent on host computing that cannot utilise heavy applications. It cannot be used in remote areas because it is dependent on the closest computing device (Abolfazli et al, 2012).
