Scenario: John is your client. He is a single white male 59 years old. He was recently diagnosed with cancer and has a history of Major Depressive Disorder. John currently is not covered by health insurance; he’s also missing substantial work due his treatment and therapies. He’s struggling financially (lost income due to missed work and uninsured) and wanting to be connected to others who might be experiencing similar treatments. He also wants to prioritize his mental health, but unsure how to do so being insured and immunocompromised.
Conduct an online search to investigate resource, programs, groups, financial grants that might be available to John. Also identify at least one county and local resource and at least one national program that could be used to assist your client. Write a two-page summary describing which programs best suits John’s needs and how you would approach these in your work with him. Briefly discuss the various assistance programs that you explored and what you have learned from this activity.
