Goal Week 5- I will review the progression administration has made in hiring the lactation specialist for all the areas.
Outcome- Last weeks outcome was a true success, progressing smoothly. I was able to obtain complete buy in from the Nurse manager and supervisor of my Unit. I was also given the opportunity to present my project once again and give the reasons why there is a need for a lactation specialist in each unit to the CFO staff and the admin staff, it all went well. This week I called and followed up with the CFO office and they state the are working on the lactation specialists position and allocating the funds properly to each Department. They were very honest with me, they shared that this is a process that can take 6-8 weeks since they are items (positions) that are paid at a high rate. They explained that high rate positions get approved by the board of supervisors since this is a county hospital. Though, this information did discourage me and my timeline a bitThey were extremely straightforward and honest with me, and they informed me that this is a procedure that can take anywhere from six to eight weeks due to the high-paying nature of the things or jobs in question. They said that because this is a county hospital, the board of supervisors has to provide its approval before high rate positions can be filled. Despite the fact that this knowledge made me and my schedule a little less optimistic, it was reassuring since it was reassuring because they are being extensive with the information they are sharing meaning that they are speaking truthfully. I will meet once again with my Nurse manager and supervisor this week and let them know what the CFO office has told me. I will also reach out to nurse recruitment to see how long the process is of creating a job bulletin. This information will help me so I can be prepared once the funding for the positions are approved, the job bulletins can be posted. I am overall excited and can see that this project will be a success. However, I forsee it may take a little longer than expected.
